It was wonderful to see so many returning friends and new friends last week as the 2016 rose year began! The evening was packed with information, fun and food and we had to say goodbye way too soon.
Our new location at the Sullivan Munce Cultural Center offered everything we needed and so much more. If you haven’t been there, check them out here. Better yet, come join us for the April meeting! Details below.
President, Linda Kimmel welcomed us and shared the March/April Indiana Gardening Magazine where an article written by Linda about Vice President Teresa Byington’s garden was featured inside as well as on the cover. Well done Linda and Teresa. Thank you for keeping roses in the public view.
Linda also reminded us of the Arrangements Judging School & Seminar coming up April 29 – May 1. Details here. Please share this information to those who might be interested!
VP Teresa Byington brought everyone up to date on where we are with planning for ROSEFEST 2016, reminding us that this is an event that will take all of us working together to showcase our roses and our organization to the public. Monica Taylor will be in charge of tickets, please contact her HERE. John and Donna Hefner are in charge of floral and educational display. Contact them HERE.
Mark Nolen gave a talk on opening the garden and removing winter protection as well as the ever popular pruning demonstration. Thanks Mark!
John Hefner led us in our roundtable discussion on problems we had in 2015 and how we might correct those situations in the new growing season. Big topics were MIDGE and BLACK SPOT.
2nd VP Humberto DeLuca ended our evening with a raffle to hand out out prizes.
Thanks for the donations guys!
