OCTOBER MEETING

In October we welcomed Anita Clevenger from California for a program on OLD GARDEN ROSES: Beautiful Survivors for Modern Gardens. It was fascinating to hear the stories behind these beauties. These historical wonders are Anita’s passion and her talk was so informative and inspiring! IRS member, Dr. Malcolm Manners, has many of these roses growing in his garden and brought blooms to share! We were all pleasantly surprised that many of the old roses do rebloom.

Anita is a member of the Heritage Rose Foundation and she shared the amazing work they do. For more information about the Heritage Rose Foundation read on HERE. They have a fantastic newsletter so check that out too. Anita is the editor!

SHOW AND TELL

The room was filled with yummy food and wonderful rose friends! Several members brought roses from their garden for show and tell. That was tons of fun. So many different varieties! It was fun and helpful to learn about each variety and how they perform in our growing conditions! The warm September and October weather has our roses blooming more than usual and we are loving it.
