The Indianapolis Rose Society, Illinois Indiana ARS Rose District, and the Hamilton County Master Gardeners invite you to a day filled with beautiful roses, rose growing demonstrations, rose garden tour, free roses to first 40 guests, an ARS accredited rose show and wonderful speakers.

SPEAKERS:

Diane Sommers, American Rose Society President
PROGRAM: Rose Classifications … Something for everyone!

Diane Sommers is the 57th President of the American Rose Society. She has been growing roses for over forty years. Her new garden in Wisconsin has over 170 roses of all rose classes. In addition to her current term as ARS President, Diane has served  as ARS Treasurer, NCD District Director and Region 5 Regional Director in addition to chairing many ARS Committees. Most recently, as chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Diane spearheaded the  implementation of  technology solutions that increase access to quality programs and speakers for consulting rosarian’s (CR’s), local rose societies and members. Diane is a past president of two local rose societies and has been awarded the ARS Silver Honor Award and two Bronze Honor Awards for her contributions to the North Central District, the Milwaukee Rose Society and the Waukesha Rose Society. She has also been recognized with the Outstanding Consulting Rosarian Award and the Outstanding Judge Award for service in her District. Diane is an ARS Master Rosarian, and Accredited Horticulture and Arrangement Judge.

 

Dr. Raymond Cloyd
PROGRAM: Japanese Beetle Management

Dr. Raymond Cloyd of Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. Professor and Extension Specialist in Horticultural Entomology/Plant Protection.

Dr. Cloyd is co-author of the Compendium of Rose Diseases and Pests, 2nd ed. His book is the gold standard concerning the identification of pest and disease affecting roses. He has authored numerous articles that have appeared in the Nashville Rose Leaf and the Rose (the official magazine of the ARS). His presentations are enlightening, well-received, and we look forward to hearing from him.
